Making Style Accessible

Melbourne, Australia (5 May, 2015) – Integrating style with accessibility, Allegion expands the Schlage 7000 Series with three innovative new designs.

The popular Schlage 7000 Series of doorware is a contemporary range of solid stainless steel levers.  Designed for modern interiors, the 7000 range elevates doorware from a functional purpose to a considered aesthetic.

With a shift towards apartment and townhouse living, shared entrances and common areas such as foyers, utilities rooms and access ways require doorware that complies with accessibility standards.  Solid stainless steel is the standard material for use in high-traffic and shared spaces, and its hardwearing, corrosion resistant properties make the 7000 Series the right choice for buildings with access compliance requirements.

Bridging the gap between accessibility and style, three new levers have been designed to complement the existing 7000 range.  Constructed from 304 grade solid stainless steel, Telo, Costa and Enzo feature design elements to comply with current accessibility standards, yet retain a high-end stylish look and feel.

The Telo lever meets AS1428:1-2011 accessibility codes with a 44mm clearance between the centre grip section of the lever and the door.  As with all levers in the 7000 Series, the Telo design features concealed fixings and is available in latch and passage sets or in a privacy set with an integrated push button feature.

A bold, simple lever with clean lines and an angled 20mm end return to ensure a comfortable grip, the weight of Telo’s solid lever conveys strength and durability.  The lever can be operated easily and without force, engineered specifically for use in areas that require compliance to AS1428:1-2011 standards.

Costa’s design features a square profile and solid lever, with a 90° degree end return.  Costa’s striking, contemporary design will work with either a round rose (standard) or square rose (optional), adding to its design versatility.  The straight lines of the lever are continued through to the 20mm end return, allowing for a secure grip.

Enzo’s balanced design combines a gentle curve with an ergonomically shaped, raised profile on the underside of the lever. Designed to complement both classic and modern interiors, Enzo also meets the criteria for AS1428:1-2011 accessibility with a 44mm clearance between the centre grip section and door.  The 20mm end return tapers off into a smooth, curved point, a design feature to ensure a comfortable, easy grip at any point on the lever.

Each of the levers are compatible with a combination of door furniture products, including Legge 990 mortice locks.  The versatility of the Schlage 7000 Series and the new accessibility compliant levers ensures that the range can be used in a variety of applications, in both residential and commercial settings.
